EMIN Bus visits Gozo promoting an adequate minimum income for allA lobby group based in Brussels – The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) – lobbies for anti-poverty campaigns and strategies and has affiliations from all the European countries.

In Malta, the Anti-Poverty Forum Malta (APF Malta) which is a platform of Maltese organisations, is part of EAPN.

The OASI Foundation of Gozo is an active member and founder of APF Malta. Part of the EAPN is focused on the provision of an adequate Minimum Income for everybody.

The European Minimum Income Network (EMIN) is a project which is advocating this idea and currently the EMIN Bus is going round all the major Cities of Europe to prompt this concept.

Last week the EMIN Bus was on a visit to Malta to promote the project and the concept behind it. The visit to the Maltese Islands was coordinated by Mr. Andre Bonello from Caritas Malta and Mr. Noel Xerri from OASI Foundation, Gozo.EMIN Bus visits Gozo promoting an adequate minimum income for allPart of its visit included a tour in Gozo which took place last Wednesday, when both the Minister for Gozo Dr. Justyne Caruana and the Shadow Minister Dr. Chris Said, visited the EMIN Bus, and signed the bus and petition associated with this project.

While in Gozo the EMIN Bus also visited places of interest like the Citadel, Dwejra, Republic Street and St. Francis Square in Victoria, and Ramla Bay among other places.

Volunteers on the bus spent some time at the OASI Centre in Victoria, where they had lunch and rested before they continued their journey.

The EMIN Bus arrived in Malta from Italy through Sicily and from Malta is was travelling on to Greece via the same route. The leader on the EMIN Bus is Anne van Lancker.
