92nd ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY WREATH PRESENTATIONS

Monday, May 28, 2018

(51 Wreath Presentations in one day. Most in U.S.A.)

 

6:30 to 7 a.m. – Sunrise Wreath Presentation at Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Flag Poles. 7 wreaths. 

 

7 to 10 a.m. – Breakfast members and supporters of Veterans of Foreign Wars, 245 W. Main Street, Missoula. Donations requested to offset cost of food and help veterans in area.

 

10 a.m. – Caras Park overlook to Clark Fork River near large white tent. Toss 1 wreath into Clark Fork River.

 

10:30 a.m. – Missoula Courthouse Front Lawn by World War I Doughboy Statue.  4 wreaths. 3 flower buckets.

 

11 a.m. – Fort Missoula Military Cemetery by Ole Beck Grave, namesake of VFW Post 209. 1 wreath.

 

11:30 a.m. – Western Montana State Veterans Cemetery at flag poles.  7 wreaths. 5 flower buckets.

 

12 to 1 p.m. – Sunset Memorial Gardens on Mullen Road past the Super Walmart.  2 wreaths.

 

1:30 p.m. – Missoula City Cemetery at veteran memorial.  1 wreath.

 

2 p.m. – St. Mary’s Cemetery Annex at statue.  1 wreath.

 

2:30 p.m. – St. Mary’s Cemetery at base veteran’s memorial.  3 wreaths.

 

3:15 p.m. – Rose Memorial Garden Park.  20 wreaths and 2 flower buckets.  Start at Vietnam Memorial. Walk around park.

 

4:15 p.m. – Iraq-Afghanistan Memorial at University of Montana.  5 wreaths (3 of placed on plaques of Missoula military men killed in line of action.)

United Veterans Council of Missoula and Ravalli Counties for organizing these 37 wreath presentations each year.

All honor and color guard units for participating.

Beach Bus Transportation for providing the driver, bus, and fuel to transport the honor and color guards.

Benson Farms for providing the red, white and blue buckets of flowers.

United Veterans Council for providing all the wreaths.

Sunset Memorial Gardens for providing lunch to the honor and color guards on the charter bus.

 

All veterans and their families for their sacrifice this day of honor for those that died to keep us free.

 

All police and firefighters that keep us safe at home.
