Progressive Action for the Common Good and Sierra Club Eagle View Group will present a conference, "Renewable Energy: Greener Earth = Green in Your Pocket" on Friday, November 9, 2018, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois.

This event is free and open to the public, funded in part by the Mark Schwiebert Grant for Environmental Studies.

The conference will explore solar, wind, and geothermal energy options with a focus on adding renewable energy to your local business, agency or home. Energy experts and community leaders will discuss energy savings and financial incentives for converting to renewable energy.

The keynote speaker will be David Osterberg of the Iowa Policy Project in Iowa City, Iowa. Other speakers include representatives of the Citizens Utility Board, and Iowa and Illinois renewable energy associations. A panel discussion will follow, moderated by WQAD meteorologist Eric Sorensen. Panel participants include Metrolink, Scott Community College, a farmer who uses renewables, and a variety of local businesses.

The Mark W. Schwiebert Fund for Environmental Studies was established in 2016 to fund programs that educate the public on environmental challenges posed by climate change and natural resource depletion. It also funds environmental research projects aimed at counteracting these challenges through sustainable and/or synergistic products or applications.
