Planting helped in Missouri last week by weather

Corn planting last week in Missouri was helped by warmer weather and more rain than the average.

As of Sunday, the USDA says 96% of Missouri corn was planted and emergence reached 84%. Most of the corn crop, so far, is in good condition.

Missouri soybean planting is just over 60% with 33 percent emerged, both ahead of last year and the average.

Cotton planting is way ahead at 94 percent complete.

Rice planting progressed to 95 percent. 75% of rice has emerged.

Sorghum planting is more than half done, well ahead of the five-year average.

Winter wheat emergence in Missouri is 84%, 13 percentage points ahead of the average.
