Minnesota Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The Gopher cross country squads have been honored as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, and four Gopher women earned individual awards.
MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's and women's cross country teams were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as 2024 NCAA Division I Cross Country All-Academic Teams while four Gopher women were named NCAA Division I All-Academic Individuals, the USTFCCCA announced today.
The Maroon & Gold men and women were among the best in the nation as the women posted a 3.77 (22nd in NCAA, 1st in Big Ten) grade point average as a team and the men had a 3.66 (14th in NCAA, 1st in Big Ten) grade point average.
Additionally both of Minnesota's All-Region finishers Ali Weimer, Emma Atkinson, Izzy Roemer and Isabelle Schmitz were honored as USTFCCCA All-Academic Individuals. For Weimer, the Big Ten's bronze medalist, finished second at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Ill., in a time of 19:48.85. Atkinson finished 11th overall (20:13.86) with Schmitz (20:17.69) and Roemer (20:18.09) close behind.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
